Know what you’ll pay for power — for the next 20 years.
Electricity costs are volatile, climbing, and impossible to budget more than a year out. Buy power directly from our solar projects at a price fixed by contract for 15 to 20 years. Your rate is set, market spikes don’t reach you, and the clean energy credits are yours.
A hedge, not a construction project.
For Class A customers, cost risk isn’t limited to the price of power. A meaningful share of the total comes from Global Adjustment, allocated by your contribution to Ontario’s highest peak demand hours.
A price you set, not one you receive
Contract a fixed price for a defined portion of your load, so a meaningful share of your electricity cost stops moving with the market and starts behaving like a line you can budget.
Global Adjustment exposure
For eligible Class A customers, clean electricity generated during Ontario’s peak demand hours may reduce your peak demand factor, which is used to calculate future Global Adjustment charges.
Credits from a real project
Your contract includes the clean energy credits and environmental attributes of the generation itself — supporting Scope 2 reporting with new generation, not unbundled certificates bought from elsewhere.
No capital project on your site
CarbonFree develops, finances, builds, owns and operates the project off site. Your organisation receives the contracted economic and environmental benefits without installing or running anything.
What this is, in plain terms
You contract for a share of the output of a real Ontario solar project at a price agreed up front, and you receive the clean energy credits that come with it. The instrument is a corporate power purchase agreement — a corporate PPA. Nothing is installed at your facility. We wrote a plain-language guide to how Ontario’s corporate PPA rules work, including who qualifies and the IESO submission deadlines.
Market exposure versus contracted supply.
This isn’t a bet on next month’s price. It’s a way to make a portion of a large, volatile cost behave predictably across a full market cycle.
Whether a contract delivers value against market prices depends on how those prices move over the term. What it delivers with certainty is a known price on a defined portion of your load, and the credits attached to it.
From first conversation to contracted supply.
Tell us about your load
Facility location, annual consumption, Class A status and peak demand profile. The first review is practical and quick.
We assess the fit
We evaluate your usage, peak demand exposure and potential contract sizing to determine whether this supports your cost and sustainability objectives.
Review the structure
We walk through the proposed contract price, term, expected generation profile, credits and the commercial protections on both sides.
Contract, and hedge
Once signed, CarbonFree advances the project through development, financing, construction and operation. You receive the settlement value and the credits over the term.
2026 IESO procurement
This is probably worth evaluating if you have…
- Ontario facilities with material electricity costs
- Class A status, or expected future Class A eligibility
- Significant exposure to Global Adjustment
- A need to make electricity costs predictable over a long horizon
- Sustainability, Scope 2 or clean energy procurement goals
- A preference for off-site clean energy over on-site generation
Not sure? That’s what the first assessment is for. Share your load profile and we’ll tell you whether it’s worth evaluating — at no cost, and with no commitment either way.
A 20-year price is only as good as the company behind it.
A corporate PPA runs longer than most commercial relationships, so the question that matters is who is on the other side of it. CarbonFree was founded in Toronto in 2006 and much of the senior team joined within the first two years. Development, financing, construction and operation all sit under one roof — the people who structure your contract are the people who built the project behind it.
